The Work

During her three-month engagement as executive transition consultant, Terri reported to and advised a Board Transition Committee on a variety of governance, executive leadership, and operational enhancement opportunities that would position a new CEO to quickly and effectively lead Signal’s continued growth and success. She also led and collaborated with the Executive Leadership Team and Signal's business partners until an Interim CEO was appointed, establishing a weekly meeting that fostered collaboration and problem-solving, with an emphasis on forward-focused initiatives. 

 

Key forward-focused initiatives included:

 

  • Preparation for the inaugural round of labor contract negotiations

  • Establishment of collaborative leadership meeting protocols to enhance cross-newsroom capacities and decision-making

  • Evaluation and improvement of expense reimbursement accountability processes and measures for both staff and vendors

  • Initiation of a comprehensive, integrated IT assessment

  • Finding talent to support the Interim CEO and Leadership Team through the balance of the transition.
