Citizens for Columbus State
Executive Chair
The Work
Citizens for Columbus State is a political action committee (PAC) that was established to advocate the passage of a $300 million bond initiative authorized by the Board of Trustees of Columbus State Community College. Terri led a 6-month bond issue campaign, Columbus State for a Strong Future, focused on securing the public investment necessary to modernize classrooms and labs, add new technology, and create state-of-the-art education and training capabilities at the College’s 50-year old Franklin County campus.
As Executive Chair, Terri hired and led a Strategy and Implementation team comprised of political and community advocacy consultants and a campaign manager; created and led the execution of a $2.1 million fundraising program for monies needed to operate the campaign, including a paid media component; communicated regularly with key stakeholder groups to solicit input and provide status updates on the campaign. Terri partnered with the PAC’s Treasurer and campaign manager to ensure sound financial management and timely, accurate reporting.
The bond initiative passed with 60% of the vote.

I’ve known Terri for over a decade, first as a senior leader at Columbus State Community College and most recently as the leader of the college's bond issue campaign. Terri was uniquely suited to lead this campaign. She brought deep passion for the college's mission, a broad array of skills and experiences, relationships across a wide range of stakeholders, and a relentless focus on the task at hand.

I’ve been on many campaigns. This one was special. Terri convened a bipartisan, diverse, and experienced team of consultants who had not worked together before. She set a tone of respect and collaboration that served this campaign well. Each team member’s experience and unique talents shined brightly. It was crystal clear we were all laser-focused on a successful outcome.
